Bureau of Land Management Tots Up North Dakota Sale Cash - Saturday, August 21, 2010
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) said its sale of oil and gas leases in Montana and North Dakota brought in more than $18.9 million.

BLM officials told the Associated Press that Slawson Exploration, of Wichita, Kansas, put in the highest bid in yesterday's sale - $3.5 million for leasing rights on a 1358-acre parcel in North Dakota's Mountrail County.  CP Energy of Lafayette, Louisiana, put in the highest per-acre bid of $3500 for a 580-acre parcel in McKenzie County, North Dakota.  Of the 71 parcels offered, 26 were in Montana and 45 in North Dakota.
The BLM said all but one of the North Dakota parcels drew bids, adding that six parcels in Montana did not get bids.  Competitive oil and gas lease sales are carried out at the BLM's Montana state office in Billings.
